DIGIPAK ANALYSIS

Front cover

- The use of the guitar head album logo indicates that the album contains music which is composed using a guitar and is also one of the familiar indications that it is a rock album.

- The use of the simplistic design of the front cover also shows indication that the album is a rock album, this is because with most common album covers such as Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight" album, they choose to just make a simple design and layout, making the cover a lot more spacious. This is due to the fact that because they are so well-known, they are already recognised by just their name and font, which means they don't need to try hard putting on more designs to try and attract the audience and that's what I demonstrated in my front cover.

Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight" Album cover
The use of the quote particularly NME on the front cover had shown that this was a rock-related music album, this is because NME is a music journalism publication who are closely associated with punk rock and traditional rock music.

Inside cover

- The use of the black & white monochrome look on the inside cover also makes the album look gothic and dark, which is conventional for punk rock music covers to have.

- The use of the image of Jay Z and the band also made it very convincing that Jay Z was in a band and also along with the image of the guitar and thunder album logo in the top corner of the inside cover reinforces that idea. The audience would then assume that he is in a rock band with all those images working together.

Back cover

The use of the picture of the electric guitar in the background of song list indicates that this album would feature a guitar in the songs. Also the convention of common rock albums featuring pictures of their instruments also reinforces the idea of the album being involve in the rock genre.

Left "Lyrics" cover

The use of the image of the band guitarist in the background gives off the fact that the album is a rock album. This is conventional to modern rock music album covers as some may have photos of the band in action and on stage live, therefore giving off a first impression of it being a rock-related album.

The Evaluation of The Daft Punk Perormance - (WIX)

Evaluation
This is the evaluation of our recreation of "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk.

The performance had key conventions of a typical Performance Music Video and was firstly shown through the use of cinematography.
This is evident as the whole music video is all focused on the performers on stage, every camera in the production of the film had all shared the same objective which was to only focus on the performers and their instruments with the use of close-up and extreme close-up shots.
This is very conventional in performance music videos as often show the artist or band throughout the video and with occasional close-ups of the band or artist in the video.

The use of mise-en-scene had also showed some of the key conventions of performance music videos.

This is evident through the use of the performance of the artist as we got our singer Jovan to sing along to the lyrics of the song in sync.
This is strongly conventional in common Performance music videos as the artists in the music video are in fact miming the words to the song.

I also thought that our use of costume in the performance was very conventional to the performance music video genre as we put our performers in costumes that are unusual but really stand out and  relevant, and also makes the music video unique, which most bands and artists try to do in their videos in order to get more popularity and attract more of a broader audience.

I thought that the production day went really well because me alongside 4 other camera operators had been able to get in some really smooth and great shots of the band and their instruments thanks to having enough time to produce 4 performances with the band, this also came in as a huge benefit as between each performance, all camera operators moved around and set up their shots in different locations, which therefore expanded the diversity and variety of shots we would have when it comes to post-production.

On the production day, I mainly had the role of being one of 4 cameramen (and women) where I filmed from one angle for each run through of the performance, but however I ha added some movement such as panning, zooming and tilting to make each shot interesting and to also work together well with the song. For instance, in the first run through of the performance, I had to mainly focus on Dom who was the guitarist and instead of creating plain still shots with a tripod, I decided to add some smoothness and on-going movement to the video by tilting, panning and zooming the camera, as well as mixing those shots together aswell which came out really well.
